Hillary Clinton Defends Finnish P.M. Sanna Marin Under Fire For Party Video
Former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton is defending Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin after a video of her dancing at a “pretty wild” party surfaced. Clinton even shared a photo of herself dancing.
“As Ann Richards said, “Ginger Rogers did everything that Fred Astaire did. She just did it backwards and in high heels.” Here’s me in Cartagena while I was there for a meeting as Secretary of State. Keep dancing, @sannamarin,” Clinton tweeted.
Marin defended the gathering on a Finnish public talk show YLE.
“I’m disappointed that it has become public. I spent the evening with friends. Partied, pretty wild, yes. Danced and sang,” Marin said.

The main video in question shows the prime minister dancing on the floor, lip-syncing to a song. In another video from an Instagram story, Marin was seen dancing with her friends.
Though Marin denied using drugs at the gathering, calls for her to do a drug test have been growing louder.
In a national newspaper, Hufvudstadsbladet, she pushed back against the claims.
“I have not used drugs myself or anything other than alcohol. I’ve danced, sung and partied and done perfectly legal things. I have also not been in a situation where I would know that others are doing it that way,” Marin said.
Marin, Finland’s youngest prime minister, stated that she hopes the stigma will change. She stated that she has the right to act her age and be with her friends as a younger politician.
“I hope that’s accepted. We live in a democracy and in elections everyone can decide these issues,” she wrote.
