Hawaii GOP Vice Chair Edwin Boyette Resigns After Tweeting Support For QAnon

Hawaiian Republican Party vice chair for communications Edwin Boyette recently resigned from his position after tweeting pro-QAnon messages from the party’s official Twitter account.

Party leadership in Hawaii has been quick to denounce Boyette’s actions. “Those tweets were unauthorized,” said Shirlene Ostrov, chair of the Hawaii Republican Party. “I think everyone can recognize that those tweets are isolated incidents and the person has since been removed.”

Several other Republican officials have seconded Ostrov’s comments, but Hawaii Democrats don’t see the tweets as an “isolated incident.”

“It’s not just one person. This is a whole committee of folks who have been enabling this for far too long and that needs to end,” said Tyler Dos Santos-Tam, chair of the Democratic Party of Hawaii.

Dos Santos-Tam noted that past Hawaii GOP tweets have been equally appalling including references to Tarl Warwick, a Holocaust denier.

Ostrov made similar apologies then, saying, “To our friends in the Jewish community, we find the comments to be deeply disturbing and offensive and have no place in our party much less in our country.”
