Vice President Kamala Harris (D) and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, are touring Pennsylvania before the Democratic National Convention.
Alongside second gentleman Doug Emhoff and Minnesota’s first lady Gwen Walz, the Harris-Walz campaign and their spouses started their tour of the state starting in Pittsburgh on Sunday.
The campaign will make several stops in Western Pennsylvania, according to a campaign press release. “This is the first time all four principals campaign together and will continue the campaign’s focus of meeting voters where they are,” it read.
Democrats are focused on winning battleground states, including Pennsylvania. President Joe Biden won the state in 2020 and former President Donald Trump won the state in 2016.

The first rally since Walz became Harris’s official running mate was in Philadelphia last week. After their first visit to the states as a duo, Harris posted to social media to thank Pennsylvania since kicking off their campaign in the state. Harris has also visited Pennsylvania seven times this year.
Recent polls from The Hill/Decision Desk HQ show that Harris is currently leading Trump in Pennsylvania. Harris has 47.6% of support, while Trump has 46.8%.
A recent Swing State Project Poll has also shown that Harris is leading in Pennsylvania by a one-point lead.
The tour will take place just before the Democratic National Convention begins on Monday. The convention will be held in Chicago from Aug. 19 to Aug. 22.
Walz is expected to give a speech on Wednesday, and Harris is scheduled to accept the official nomination on Thursday. Harris became the presumptive nominee earlier this summer after a roll-call vote amongst delegates.
