Harris Slams Trump For Backing Out Of ABC Debate

Vice President Kamala Harris (D) has ridiculed former President Donald Trump after he refused to debate her.

In a Truth Social post, Trump announced that he was pulling out of the ABC News debate and has planned his own debate with Fox News with different rules to the previous CNN debate.

In a statement released on Saturday, the Harris campaign said, “Donald Trump is running scared and trying to back out of the debate he already agreed to and running straight to Fox News to bail him out.” The statement also said, “He needs to stop playing games and show up to the debate he already committed to on Sept. 10.”

Trump’s planned debate with Fox News will have a “full arena audience,” according to a Truth Social post. Former President Joe Biden (D) refused to have a studio audience due to fears that Trump would deliver more soundbite footage than policy discussion.

Democrats have ridiculed Trump for his refusal to debate Harris, stating that he was scared to go up against the former prosecutor. Harris has also urged Trump to honor his commitment. In a social media post, she wrote, “Donald, I do hope you’ll reconsider meeting me on the debate stage. Because, as the saying goes, if you’ve got something to say, say it to my face.”

Trump told his social media followers that he “terminated” the ABC debate because he committed to debating Biden, not Harris.

Trump also cited his ongoing litigation with ABC anchor George Stephanopoulos and said it was a conflict of interest. Trump initially committed to the debate despite the legal proceedings against ABC.

Harris’ campaign announced that they would be “happy to discuss further debates after the one both campaigns have already agreed to.” Harris plans to attend the ABC debate regardless of whether or not Trump attends.
