With just over 20 days until the presidential election, Vice President Kamala Harris was peppered with tough questions in an interview on 60 Minutes that aired Monday night.
One of the most challenging questions posed by correspondent Bill Whitaker was whether Harris regretted allowing immigrants to cross the border in large numbers. Harris addressed this concern by stating she was an early advocate for the bipartisan immigration bill. She pivoted to recent changes made by President Joe Biden‘s executive order that have dramatically slowed crossings at the southern border.
Former President Donald Trump declined an opportunity to do a similar interview.
Harris faced difficult questions to answer about her campaign promises – many of which she did not give direct answers to.

The questions ranged from small business incentives, taxpayers, housing assistance and Ukraine.
On taxes, Harris said she would focus on cutting rates for the middle class while making the wealthy pay more. “I’m going to make sure that the richest among us, who can afford it, pay their fair share in taxes,” she said. “It is not right that teachers and nurses and firefighters are paying a higher tax rate than billionaires and the biggest corporations.”
Harris encouraged viewers to watch a Trump rally, as she did during their debate. “You’re going to hear conversations that are about himself and all of his personal grievances,” she said. “And what you will not hear is anything about you, the listener.”
