On Wednesday night, Vice President Kamala Harris clashed with Fox News anchor Brett Baier in a heated interview. Harris and Baier talked over each other repeatedly as Harris tried to parry his questions, and Baier echoed right-wing talking points.
In the campaign’s closing weeks, Harris has shown a willingness to use adversarial outlets to reach undecided voters.
Harris addressed Trump’s threat to use the military against enemies in the U.S. She talked about how a second Trump term could mean him sitting in the Oval Office “plotting retribution, stewing in his own grievances and thinking only about himself and not you.”
Harris also sought to differentiate herself from the current president.

“My presidency will not be a continuation of Joe Biden’s presidency,” she said. “Like every new president that comes into office, I will bring my life experiences, my professional experiences and fresh and new ideas.”
Baier pressed Harris on issues important to the conservative audience, including immigration, transgender rights and inflation.
When asked about her support for gender-affirming surgery, Harris shot back: “I will follow the law, and it’s a law that Donald Trump actually followed.”
Harris has been mounting an effort to win over moderate Republicans. On Tuesday, Harris appeared at a rally in Pennsylvania with 200 current and former Republicans who were disaffected by Trump’s anti-democratic behavior.
At the Pennsylvania rally, Harris continued to raise questions about Trump’s age and mental faculties, saying that he’s becoming increasingly unstable and unhinged.
