GOP Sen. Tom Cotton Says He Won’t Run For GOP Presidential Nomination In 2024

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) said in an interview that family was the only consideration in his decision to not pursue a presidential nomination in 2024.

“This is not the right time for our family for me to commit to a six-to-seven day a week campaign for the next two years,” Cotton told Fox News in his first interview since he dropped the race.

Cotton cited his two young children as a reason to give up on running for the White House. He added he believes the GOP will find other nominees.

Former President Donald Trump is expected to announce he’s running in 2024 after the midterm elections, while Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is considering challenging Trump.

“My boys are age seven and five. They’re old enough to know that dad’s gone and be sad about it but not old enough to understand the purpose and why it all matters and why the sacrifice is worth it,” Cotton explained. “I am pretty sure Republican voters can find another nominee, but I know that my sons can’t find another dad for the next two years.”
