PHILADELPHIA, PA - MAY 18: Former U.S. Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden speaks during a campaign kickoff rally, May 18, 2019 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Since Biden announced his candidacy in late April, he has taken the top spot in all polls of the sprawling Democratic primary field. Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Mississippi) tweeted the benefits of President Joe Biden‘s American Rescue Plan hours after it passed for the second time in the House of Representatives. Wicker said, “Independent restaurant operators have won $28.6 billion worth of targeted relief.”
Wicker had voted ‘no’ for the American Rescue Plan in the Senate, just days earlier.
Wicker received a storm of responses laying out the hypocrisy of commending a bill after voting to kill it. Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-Michigan), who voted ‘yes’ for the stimulus both times in the House, responded to Wicker saying, “Too many have closed & many more are suffering. Just happy we got them help today despite his objections.”
