Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Arizona) said during a House Oversight Committee hearing discussing the Capitol insurrection that Ashli Babbitt, the Capitol rioter who was shot attempting to breach the House chamber, was “executed” by Capitol Police.
“Do you recall the name of the young lady, a veteran wrapped in an American flag, who was killed in the U.S. Capitol?” Gosar said to former acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen. “I do. Her name was Ashli Babbitt,” said Rosen.
Gosar then asked Rosen if Babbitt was armed when she attempted to breach the House floor. “Again, Congressman, I need to be respectful of your observations, but I just don’t want to talk about individual situations,” said Rosen, attempting to redirect the line of questioning.
Gosar then asked Rosen if Babbitt’s death was a homicide. “Congressman, I’m not trying to be unhelpful here. But I just cannot comment,” Rosen said. Gosar then quickly interjected, “As the death certificate says, it was a homicide. Who executed Ashli Babbitt?”
