GOP Rep. Lauren Boebert ‘Encouraged’ Crimes, Indicted Election Clerk Tina Peters Says

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colorado) is under fire from an election clerk after the clerk, who is indicted on ten counts of misconduct, including attempting to influence a public servant and identity theft.

Tina Peters served as an election clerk during the 2020 election and recently lost the GOP primary for Colorado Secretary of State.

In an interview with The New York Times, Peters said that Boebert was the one supporting Peters’ actions, stating Boebert “encouraged me to go forward with the imaging.”

Boebert’s campaign has not responded to Peters’ statements.

Peter received endorsements and praise in the past from both Boebert.

In 2021, Boebert came out with a statement defending Peters and criticizing her indictments and investigations.

“Many of the constituents I represent have expressed concern about the ongoing investigation into Mesa County Clerk and Recorder Tina Peters,” Boebert stated. “As many of you know, I have been a vocal opponent of the overreach and targeted nature of the FBI’s activities on a national level.”

MyPillow founder Mike Lindell donated a reported $200,000 to pay for Peters’ legal fees.

Peters acknowledged that she had allowed at least one person to copy the hard drives of the voting machines, though she stated there isn’t any rule against it.

Peters stated that how the files ended up online is still unknown to her, though she showcased her findings during a live-streamed meeting.

During the 2020 election, when Donald Trump began his rhetoric of election fraud, Peters refused to conduct a hand recount of ballots in her country, which Trump won by 62 percent.

Peters brought on high school math and science teacher Douglas Frank whose election theories have become the rallying cry of MAGA denialists.
