GOP Rep. Andy Ogles Pushes Constitutional Amendment To Allow 3rd Term For Trump – But Not For Obama, Clinton Or Bush

Rep. Andy Ogles (R-Tennessee) has proposed an amendment to the U.S. Constitution to allow presidents to serve three terms in office as long as they do not serve two consecutive terms.

This would allow President Donald Trump a third term, but not for Presidents Barack ObamaBill Clinton or George W. Bush – all the other living presidents.

Trump has repeatedly suggested that he would like to serve a third term.

The proposed Amendment reads, “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than three times, nor be elected to any additional term after being elected to two consecutive terms, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.”

The 22nd Amendment was passed by Congress in 1947 after Franklin Delano Roosevelt won four terms in office. It bars two-term holders of the Oval Office from running for a third term.

Ogles thinks Trump deserves a third term to continue restoring America to “greatness.” He thinks Trump’s leadership greatly contrasts the “chaos” Americans have had to “endure” in the past four years.

“He has proven himself to be the only figure in modern history capable of reversing our nation’s decay and restoring America to greatness, and he must be given the time necessary to accomplish that goal. This Amendment would allow President Trump to serve three terms, ensuring that we could sustain the bold leadership our nation so desperately needs,” Ogles said.

In 2023, Ogles made headlines for sending a Christmas card in which all his family members held AR-15s.
