A Republican mega-donor recently gave an additional $50 million to a super PAC that supports former President Donald Trump.

Timothy Mellon, the heir to the Mellon banking wealth and a GOP donor, has given $115 million to the super PAC in this election cycle.

Mellon donated to Make America Great Again Inc. and has donated $115 million since 2023. Mellon is the largest donor to MAGA Inc., which supports Trump’s campaign.

In a filing with the Federal Election Commission, MAGA Inc. reported that the most recent donation was dated July 15. This was less than a week before President Joe Biden dropped out of the race and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris.

This donation accounted for over 90% of the funds raised by MAGA Inc. during July. These funds will be used to support Trump as he aims to attack Harris in key battleground states.

Another notable donation by Mellon was given on May 31, the day after Trump was convicted of 34 felony counts. Mellon donated $50 million on that date and again on the day the Republican National Convention started.

MAGA Inc. also recently announced an ad blitz costing $100 million that will focus on immigration policy and Harris’s history as a prosecutor, which are two issues that may help to persuade an independent voter ahead of the election.

Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, have visited numerous swing states and are on a bus tour through Georgia to try and win more swing voters.

Mellon has also donated to a super PAC that supports independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. through five separate donations totaling $25 million. His last donation to this super PAC was in April.
