Fulton County D.A. Fani Willis Expects Trump’s Election Fraud Trial To Continue Into 2025

Fulton County District Fani Willis said she anticipates Donald Trump’s 2020 election trial will start before the 2024 election and will possibly continue into 2025.

“I believe in that case there will be a trial. I believe the trial will take many months,” she said at an event held by The Washington Post. “And I don’t expect that we will conclude until the winter or the very early part of 2025.”

Following Trump’s indictment in Fulton County, Georgia, and several other jurisdictions, he is struggling to balance his 2024 presidential run and court dates. Although a start date has yet to be announced for the Georgia case, Trump’s New York civil trial is scheduled for January 15, two criminal trials in March and an additional third criminal case in May.

The former president and 18 others were charged in August with a variety of counts relating to their efforts to overturn the 2020 election after losing against President Joe Biden.

Four of his defendants in the case have taken plea deals.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee allowed two defendants who requested a speedy trial to separate from the group in September, which resulted in them taking plea deals last month.

Willis noted that she will not take into account the election dates when it comes to her decision of which cases to bring.
