The Biden Administration announced last month that free at-home Covid-19 tests will be available again on a government website.
Testing kits will be available on CovidTest.gov, and each person can request four free kits. So far, the government is reporting robust demand for the kits.
The government started handing out free Covid test kits in January 2022. According to the official site, the program has handed out over 755 million tests to two-thirds of American households.
The site briefly stopped handing out testing kits on June 1 to save supplies.

Covid cases are rising as the winter approaches and hospitalizations are also increasing.
The Biden Administration announced that the new test kits will be able to detect EG.5, the latest Covid variant.
The test kits will be used until the end of 2023 and will come with additional instructions on checking if the equipment has passed its expiration date.
The Biden Administration has also announced that $600 million will be set aside for the production of at-home COVID tests, allowing an estimated 200 million kits to be produced.
“These critical investments will strengthen our nation’s production levels of domestic at-home COVID-19 rapid test and help mitigate the spread of the virus,” Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra stated.
PCR testing prices are increasing, and insurance coverage for at-home testing kits is decreasing.
If people are unable to get tested quickly, the disease is likely to spread and case numbers will spike.
