Fox News Cuts Impeachment Trial Broadcast During Prosecutors’ Presentation, Fox Host Speaks Out

When Rep. Eric Swalwell‘s (D-California) presentation neared its dramatic climax during Wednesday’s impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump, Fox News cut their broadcast of the trial as Swalwell introduced then-unreleased footage of the chaos in the Capitol building on January 6.

Fox News had been airing a live feed of the Wednesday’s proceedings for five continuous hours before the sudden cut at 5 p.m. EST. Fox then swapped to one of their many opinion shows, The Five, which was scheduled to begin.

“I’m kind of shocked,” Fox host Juan Williams said during The Five. “I want you guys to come back. Come back, join the conversation. Pay attention to the news. “Clearly, what’s going on on Capitol Hill today is an attempt to hold democracy and the Constitution up. To celebrate that as the basis that we are a country of laws.”

“This impeachment trial that you guys are all ignoring, I guess you are afraid of it because it’s a reminder,” Williams then said. He was then interrupted by another host Greg Gutfield saying, “Don’t mind read, Juan!”

“It seems to me that what you heard today is how Trump was attacking not only Democrats but Republicans, and now he’s forcing Republicans to make a choice,” said Williams, breaking with his Fox co-hosts. “You can stand with the mob that stormed Capitol Hill and say ‘bleep the cops.’ You can join the QAnon conspiracy. You can join the Proud Boys violent extremists.”

Williams was quickly antagonized by his co-hosts.

“You’re being so rude because I’m so right,” Williams said in response.

While NBC, ABC, CNN, CBS and MSNBC aired the chilling footage from the Capitol riots, Williams sat while his co-hosts discussed a cat-lawyer viral videos and criticized the re-branding Aunt Jemima products.
