Fox News Analyst Britt Hume Refutes Trump’s Claims About Ukraine, Saying It Has ‘Quite A Few Cards To Play’
Brit Hume, the Fox News chief political analyst, contradicted President Donald Trump‘s statement to the Ukrainian president in the Oval Office, saying Ukraine “has quite a few cards to play” against Russia.
This comment comes in response to Ukraine’s drone attack well within Russian territory, where more than 40 warplanes were damaged or destroyed.
On X following the attack, Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukraine’s President, said, “A brilliant operation was carried out — on enemy territory.”
“The preparation took over a year and a half. Planning, organization, and every detail was perfectly executed. It can be said with confidence that this was an absolutely unique operation,” Zelensky wrote about the attack.

When meeting with Trump in the Oval Office in February, Trump told Zelensky could not make any demands on the U.S.
“Don’t tell us what we’re going to feel,” Trump told Zelensky. “You’re in no position to dictate that. You don’t have the cards right now. With us, you start having cards.”
Following this attack, Hume joined Fox News’ “Special Report” and objected to Trump’s comments from that meeting.
“It certainly does establish that this country, whose president was being told at the White House that he didn’t have any cards to play, that he apparently has quite a few cards to play, including this daring attack,” Hume responded in a clip highlighted by Mediaite.
Hume proceeded to share that the Ukrainians have claimed to neutralize 30-40% of Russia’s strategic bombing force, severely damaging Russia’s ability to push further into Ukraine.
“It is an embarrassing intelligence failure and an embarrassing defense failure,” Hume continued. “And who knows what else the Ukrainians, who have proved pretty ingenious, have up their sleeves?”
Trump promised on the campaign trail that he would bring an end to the war, but Ukraine has continued to push back and has refused to accept the terms that the U.S. has proposed.
