Former Vice President Dick Cheney criticized ex-President Donald Trump as a “coward” in a new campaign ad for his daughter, Rep. Liz Cheney (R), who is running for reelection in Wyoming.
“In our nation’s 236-year history, there has never been an individual who is a greater threat to our republic than Donald Trump,” said Cheney who served under President George W. Bush for two terms from 2001-2009.
“[Trump] tried to steal the last election using lies and violence to keep himself in power after the voters had rejected him,” he added. “He is a coward. A real man wouldn’t lie to his supporters. He lost his election and he lost big. I know it, he knows it, and deep down, I think most Republicans know it.”

Liz Cheney became an enemy of Trump after she was one of the 10 House Republicans who voted to impeach him following the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack. She then became the co-chair of the House select committee investigating the events before, during and after the riots as one of his biggest Republican critics.
“There is nothing more important she will ever do than lead the effort to make sure Donald Trump is never again near the Oval Office, and she will succeed,” Cheney said of his daughter’s involvement on the committee.
Liz Cheney is currently trailing in polls behind Trump-endorsed Harriet Hageman, though she has far out-fundraised her.
Hageman, like Trump, contends that the 2020 election was “stolen,” though widespread conspiracies of election fraud have been debunked by multiple investigations.
