Former President Jimmy Carter, 99, Hopes To Vote For Harris Before He Dies

Former President Jimmy Carter is hoping he can vote for Vice President Kamala Harris in the November election.

Carter, the oldest living president, told his family members, including grandson Jason Carter, who relayed the message to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, of his hopes to vote for Harris.

“I’m only trying to make it to vote for Kamala Harris,” Carter said.

Carter is set to turn 100 years old on Oct. 1. He entered hospice care in February 2023 following numerous hospital stays. He is a survivor of brain cancer, liver cancer and brain surgery, which he underwent in 2019.

Jason Carter announced in May that his grandfather is “coming to an end.”

Carter was the 39th president and is known for his human rights successes, as well as brokering the Camp David Accords in 1978 between Egypt and Israel.

Carter was a one-term president. He also served one term as the governor of Georgia before his presidency.

His wife, Rosalynn Carter, died in November of 2023. The couple was married for 77 years. The former first lady is known for her humanitarian efforts and mental health advocacy.

Rosalynn and Jimmy Carter started the Carter Center in 1982, which aims to advocate for world health and peace.
