About 7,000 cases of the coronavirus have been reported in the state of Florida. Tuesday marked the first day Florida reported more than a thousand cases in a day.
Miami-Dade and Broward counties have the highest number of cases in the state and hold about half of the state’s total cases. Dade County alone has 2,202 positive cases, while In Broward County, 1,232 have tested positive.
A total of 66,499 people across the state have received testing, with 59,529 testing negative. More than 1,200 are awaiting test results. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) announced that a test that gives results in 45 minutes was approved by the FDA. Those tests are expected to be made available in Miami-Dade and Broward counties as soon as possible.

DeSantis announced Wednesday afternoon a stay-at-home order for Floridians expected to take place for the next 30 days. The order will go into effect at 12:01 a.m. Friday.
