Fiona Hill has spoken out about the time she wanted to “fake a medical emergency” to stop the 2018 press conference between President Donald Trump and President Vladamir Putin. Hill, the former top Russia advisor to Trump, spoke about her time at the White House, and specifically during the infamous press conference.
“I just thought, let’s cut this off and try to end it. I couldn’t come up with anything that just wouldn’t add to the terrible spectacle,” she told CNN. She went on to say that the conference was “one of those moments where it was mortifying and humiliating for the country.”
The former adviser is speaking out about her experiences after Biden held a solo press conference following his meeting in Geneva with Putin on Wednesday.
This decision was praised by many, including Hill. Reporters have acknowledged the difficulty of holding these conferences and agree that Biden was correct in not doing one.
