Federal Government Sues Roger Stone For $2 Million In Unpaid Taxes

Despite receiving a pardon from former President Donald Trump, long-time GOP political operative Roger Stone is on the receiving end of a Florida civil suit suing him for almost $2 million in unpaid taxes.

The suit alleges that Stone and his wife Nydia owe just under $2 million in federal income taxes from 2007 to 2011. That original $2 million, however, is due to be compounded by hundreds of thousands in late fees and penalties plus interest.

Federal prosecutors are also alleging Stone avoided the IRS by placing more than $1 million in a corporate entity owned by his family in 2018 and 2019. Prosecutors say Stone then used the money from the company to pay for personal expenses including “groceries, dentist bills, spas, salons, clothing and restaurant expenses,” as well as a down payment on a house, according to the prosecution’s files.

“Although they used funds held in Drake Ventures accounts to pay some of their taxes, the Stones’ use of Drake Ventures to hold their funds allowed them to shield their personal income from enforced collection and fund a lavish lifestyle despite owing nearly $2 million in unpaid taxes, interest and penalties,” the prosecution wrote in their initial suit.
