The House select committee investigating the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack revealed a draft tweet they claim shows former President Donald Trump‘s intent to call on his supporters to march on the Capitol even though he made it seem like it was unplanned.
“I will be making a big speech at 10:00 AM on January 6th at the Ellipse, south of the White House. Please arrive early. Massive crowds expected. March to the Capitol after. Stop the steal,” the draft tweet read, stamped with the words “President has seen.”
The draft, left undated, was obtained by the committee from the National Archives. It was never published.

The committee also revealed a January 4, 2021, text to My Pillow CEO Mike Lindell from January 6 rally organizer Kylie Kremer corroborating the draft tweet’s message.
“You know this stays between us,” the conservative organizer wrote. “We’re having a second stage at the Supreme Court again after the Ellipse. POTUS is going to have us march there/the Capitol. It cannot get out about the second stage because people will try and set up another and sabotage it. It can also not get out about the march because I will be in trouble with the National Park Service and all the agencies. But POTUS is going to just call for it unexpectedly.”
In the last example, the committee pointed to far-right activist and “Stop the Steal” organizer Ali Alexander‘s message to a conservative journalist.
“Tomorrow. Ellipse then US Capitol. Trump is supposed to order us to the Capitol at the end of his speech, but we will see,” she wrote on January 5, 2021.
The messages are important because they indicate a premeditated plan by Trump and his allies to send his supporters to the Capitol following the January 6 “Stop the Steal” rally on the Ellipse.
