Former COVID-19 Task Force Coordinator Dr. Deborah Birx said in an interview with CBS that during press conferences, former President Donald Trump showed a “parallel set of data and graphics” for U.S. COVID-19 cases and statistics that were not created by the task force.
“I saw the president presenting graphs I never made,” said Birx. She noted that she “knew someone inside” created the parallel graphics shown to the president which he subsequently showed to the public.
Birx admitted that she almost never saw Trump and that this could be why her graphs were tampered with. Because the data changed hands before reaching Trump, Birx said that someone willfully altered the information shown to Trump.
Birx’s interview was greeted with disbelief from her critics who wondered why the doctor kept this information private as long as she did. Dr. Seema Yasmin told CNN, “We’re sure that she knew some of this while she was in the administration, where was her skepticism or concern about the president showing data that she hadn’t looked at when she was in the administration? It’s very painful to see this after the fact.”
