Dr. Anthony Fauci said Wednesday that Americans should consider wearing goggles or a face shield to stop the spread of COVID-19.
“If you have goggles or an eye shield, you should use it,” he said.
The nation’s top health adviser claimed that eyes could become as vulnerable as nose or mouth.
“You have mucosa in the nose, mucosa in the mouth, but you also have mucosa in the eye,” he continued. “Theoretically, you should protect all the mucosal surfaces.”

Fauci further noted that that while goggles and eye shields are “not universally recommended” for now, and that “if you really want to be complete, you should probably use it if you can.”
