Donald Trump Sends Threatening Message To Political Enemies On Social Media

During his reelection campaign in 2020, former President Donald Trump made some particularly threatening comments to other world powers who he viewed as political enemies. Now, he is reviving these sentiments in a different context, sending a message to those who are seeking his criminal prosecution.

On Thursday, Trump reposted a video on his Truth Social platform in which listeners can hear him saying, “If you f—around with us, if you do something bad to us, we are going to do things to you that have never been done before.”

The message was originally intended for Iran but was repurposed in order to frighten his legal adversaries.

Trump is known for his strong rhetoric and has used it as a fear tactic since his first presidential election in 2016. The slew of criminal charges that he is currently facing has sparked even more vengeful, personal attacks on his perceived enemies. He has repeatedly called for retaliation on Special Counsel Jack Smith, who brought the 37-count indictment against Trump in June for willful retention of national security information.

The former president has also utilized his platform to rally his M.A.G.A. allies around his cause. He has insinuated that should he be convicted of any crime and sent to prison, his followers would launch an attack on the federal government reminiscent of that on January 6, 2021.

“I think it is very dangerous to even talk about,” said Trump during an interview on The Simon Conway Show on Tuesday, regarding his possible sentence. “Because we do have a tremendously passionate group of voters, much more passion than they had in 2020 and much more passion than they had in 2016. I think it would be very dangerous.”

Though somewhat indirect, Trump has often taken to social media to encourage his supporters to take action. In an attempt to escape criminal charges, the former president has been using this same strategy throughout his campaign for the 2024 presidential election, in which he is the Republican frontrunner.
