In the wake of two mass shootings in the last week, many are calling for President Donald Trump to apologize and acknowledges that his rhetoric is racist and dangerous.
Before leaving the White House to visit Dayton, Ohio, and El Paso, Texas, on Wednesday, Trump told reporters that his rhetoric “brings people together.”

Trump’s recent attacks on women of color in the House of Representatives, Baltimore’s Rep. Elijah Cummings and Rev. Al Sharpton have only heightened the criticism. The El Paso shooter was discovered to mimic by Trump’s anti-immigration statements in his writings.
The president chose to talk about the Dayton, Ohio, shooting which left nine dead. He posted on Twitter that thhe Dayton shooter was a supporter of Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-Massachusetts) and Bernie Sanders (D-Vermont).
There is no evidence that the Dayton shooter was motivated by politics, however.
Before he murdered 22 mostly Hispanic shoppers at a Walmart in El Paso, the shooter posted a racist manifesto that harkened back to Trump’s frequent claim of a “Mexican invasion.”
Trump told reporters, “I don’t like [hate]… whether it’s white supremacy or any other kind of supremacy, whether it’s Antifa.”
