At the G7 Summit in Biarritz, France, President Donald Trump demanded that next year’s event must include Russia.

According to a source, Trump was very fierce when arguing with the other world leaders that Vladimir Putin should be readmitted to the summit.

The only leader who supported Trump’s notion was Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte. The rest, Germany’s Angela Merkel, France’s Emmanuel Macron, Canada’s Justin Trudeau and the E.U. council president Donald Tusk fought back. Japan’s Shinzo Abe remained neutral.

This argument is a continuation from the last G7 Summit in Quebec. Trump was determined to argue for Putin every chance he got, even in a discussion about Iran

The president’s arrival at the summit came with some anxiety, because of his ongoing trade war with China and apparent reluctance to attend. Last year, Trump left Quebec early and told U.S. officials to withdraw from a joint communiqué.

The leaders were supposed to take a group photo under the 1830’s lighthouse in Biarritz, but the photo was inexplicably canceled. No reason was given, however officials point to a larger group photo with several guests in it.

Next year Trump is expected to host countries. He has suggested his Doral hotel in Miami.
