With Democratic candidate Joe Biden up double digits in some polls and U.S. COVID-19 cases spiking in many regions, President Donald Trump is focusing on his most loyal Republican supporters, in hopes that they will turn out in huge numbers on November 3. At campaign rallies in Florida and Georgia, states in which Trump received the electoral votes back in 2016, he repeatedly attacked his Democratic opponent, claiming that Biden would bring communism and a “flood” of criminal immigrants.
Most recently, at a campaign rally in Macon, Georgia, Trump stated that, “I shouldn’t joke because you know what? Running against the worst candidate in the history of presidential politics puts pressure on me. Could you imagine if I lose? My whole life, what am I going to do? I’m going to say ‘I lost to the worst candidate in the history of politics.’ I’m not going to feel so good.” He went on to claim that if he loses to Biden, “Maybe I’ll have to leave the country? I don’t know.”
Biden took to Twitter to respond to the president’s remarks, posting a video in which he proudly “approve[s] this message.”
