Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-Rhode Island) has asked Attorney General Merrick Garland to investigate the FBI’s background check of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, calling the probe a “fake” investigation into sexual assault claims lodged against Kavanaugh during his 2018 confirmation process.
According to Whitehouse, the FBI never interviewed Kavanaugh or his accuser Christine Blasey. The FBI also allegedly failed to follow up on allegations made regarding Kavanaugh’s behavior when he was in high school in the early 1980s.
Whitehouse is one of many who have questioned Kavanaugh’s background and are now calling for a more thorough investigation of the Trump-appointed justice.
