Did Ivanka Trump Provide Accurate Answers During Inauguration Scandal Deposition? New Documents Suggest ‘No’

Ivanka Trump may have not testified accurately during her deposition for the Trump Inauguration scandal lawsuit, according to a newly published report based on internal emails.

Washington D.C. Attorney General Karl Racine launched the investigation into Trump’s inauguration committee, claiming the committee “improperly used non-profit funds” by overpaying for the event space and throwing an expensive private party for the Trump family.

Ivanka was an official adviser to her father in the White House. Before this role, she was an executive at the Trump Organization. Trump’s eldest daughter was deposed on December 1, during which she claimed she “didn’t have an involvement” in the planning process of the inauguration. Her only participation was giving “feedback” to the planning members if it was “solicited.”

However, recent documents have come to light that shows Ivanka had a much greater role in the inauguration than she led investigators to believe. She played a decision-making role in different aspects of the inauguration.

An email chain from November 29, 2016, between the then-deputy chairman of the Presidential Inauguration Committee Rick Gates, producer Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, Ivanka and her assistant contained messages regarding inauguration event plans. Gates wrote to Ivanka asking for “additional ideas she has about some other events that we would like to see if you would be willing to do based on our meetings.” Ivanka responded by looping her assistant in to schedule a meeting. Winston Wolkoff reached out to Ivanka and her husband a few days later to confirm the details discussed in the meeting by asking the couple to “review” the “high-level summary” of the event.

Winston Wolkoff, the former best friend of Melania Trump, described this incident and many others like it in her book. She specified countless times that Ivanka was involved in the planning and decision-making process for the inauguration and the responsibilities Winston Wolkoff had regarding the Trump family members. But Ivanka dismissed the relationship saying she did not know the lead producer well and that she was only “a person in New York who does events.”
