Democrats To Push Legalization Of Marijuana At Federal Level

Democratic Senators on Wednesday afternoon announced that they would resume their effort to decriminalize marijuana at the federal level.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-New York) held a press conference with two other senators to announce their drafts of the Cannabis Administration and Opportunity Act.

“This is monumental,” Schumer told reporters on Wednesday. “At long last, we are taking steps in the Senate to right the wrongs of the failed war on drugs.”

“The war on drugs has really been a war on people, particularly people of color,” Schumer added. “The waste of human resources because of the historic over-criminalization has been one of the great historical wrongs for the last decades, and we are going to change it.”
