The Democratic National Convention planning committee announced the line-up for speakers on Tuesday for next week’s nominating convention for Joe Biden. The event will feature Michelle Obama, Bernie Sanders and Barack Obama
The convention originally was planned to take place in Milwaukee but now will be in a virtual format from Monday, Aug. 17, to Thursday, Aug. 20. The event will be live-streamed on social networks, as well as on the DNC’s website.
Biden explained the decision to move the convention to online live-stream while talking at a recent fundraising event.
“I’ve wanted to set an example as to how we should respond individually to this crisis,” Biden said. “From the start of the process, we’ve made it clear…. Science matters.”

Some of Monday’s headliners include Sanders with his keynote speech, followed by Michelle Obama and New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
Tuesday’s line up features Dr. Jill Biden, former President Bill Clinton, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-New York) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-New York).
A virtual delegate roll call vote will also take place on Tuesday, after which, on Wednesday, Biden’s running mate, Sen. Kamala Harris, will address viewers.
After the presumptive vice president’s speech on Wednesday, other key figures on the line-up are former President Barack Obama, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Massachusetts).
On Thursday, Biden will be accepting his Democratic nomination and speeches by his family will follow.
