Trump Endorses Right-Wing Rep. Jim Jordan For House Speaker

Former President Donald Trump endorsed Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) for House speaker, saying he would be a “great candidate.”

Trump’s support for Jordan was announced by Fox News host Sean Hannity and a followed repost by Rep. Troy Nehls (R-Texas) after Hannity posted on social media that Trump told him he would endorse Jordan.

Jordan is known to be a close ally of Trump and the chief Republican lawmaker investigating President Joe Biden.

Both Jordan and Rep. Steve Scalise (R-Louisiana) are currently in the process of gathering support for the position of speaker.

Earlier, Trump teased the idea of making a visit to Capitol Hill and serving as an interim speaker of the House.

“If they don’t get the vote, they have asked me if I would consider taking the speakership until they get somebody longer-term because I am running for president,” he said. “They have asked me if I would take it for a short period of time for the party, until they come to a conclusion — I’m not doing it because I want to — I will do it if necessary, should they not be able to make their decision.”

A few of Trump’s House Republican allies such as Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) and Nehls have pushed for Trump as Speaker.

Greene posted on X that Trump “CONFIRMED HE WILL TAKE THE JOB” on Thursday.
