Trump Administration Sues John Bolton To Prevent Publication Of Book, ‘The Room Where It Happened’

President Donald Trump‘s administration filed a lawsuit against former National Security Advisor, John Bolton, on Tuesday to prevent publication of his “tell-all” book, The Room Where It Happened, detailing Trump’s questionable actions with foreign powers and his impeachment.

“If he wrote a book and if the book gets out, he’s broken the law and I would think you would have criminal problems,” Trump said. “I hope so. If this guy is writing things about conversations or about anything — and maybe he is not telling the truth. He’s been known not to tell the truth, a lot.”

Trump has stated his opinions regarding Bolton’s book previously, calling it “highly inappropriate” considering conversations between him and Bolton are considered “highly classified” in his view.

Trump pushed Bolton out of office last year after the two men argued over how to deal with foreign policy challenges in countries such as Iran and Afghanistan.

Attorney General William Barr said that the Justice Department is hoping to have Bolton’s book include the appropriate “deletions of classified information.”

Barr told reporters, “I don’t know of any book that’s been published so quickly while the officeholders are still in government, and it’s about very current events, current leaders, and current discussions of current policy issues, many of which are inherently classified.”

The book has been reviewed by the White House according to Bolton’s lawyer, Chuck Cooper. However, the Trump administration broke their silence after using, “transparent attempt to use national security as a pretext to censor Mr. Bolton,” according to Cooper.
