Showtime pulled a special by Vice News about Florida Gov. Rob DeSantis‘ (R) time at Guantanamo Bay. The network failed to give any explanation for the cancellation.
The episode, scheduled to air May 28, was titled “The Gitmo Candidate & Chipping Away.” Marked as the fourth episode, it has been removed from Showtime’s website and press portal and replaced with the following episode, “Detransitioners and Draining the DRC.” This episode is now marked as episode four instead of the DeSantis special.
The special would have delved into DeSantis’ time as JAG officer at Guantanamo Bay. Supposedly, the episode would have revealed “explosive material” about DeSantis, who recently joined the Republican race for the 2024 presidential election.
Showtime has not provided any explanation for pulling the episode.
