Coronavirus Relief Talks Break Down As Pelosi & White House Take A Hard Line

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-California) and White House negotiators failed to agree on a new package of coronavirus relief measures on Friday. The sides were said to be trillions apart in the size of the packages they are seeking.

Following the meeting, President Donald Trump warned that he is willing to order executive action if the negotiation continues to reach an impasse.

“If Democrats continue to hold this critical relief hostage, I will act under my authority as president to get Americans the relief they need,” Trump told reporters.

Trump further attacked Pelosi for pursuing policies that are “radical left.”

“Tragically Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer continue to insist on radical left wing policies that have nothing to do with the China virus, nothing to do with it at all,” he added.

Pelosi said Friday that she and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-New York) are willing to cut down their $3 trillion proposal by $1 trillion and meet the White House halfway, which Trump and his officials rejected.
