Chris Christie Admits He Was Wrong To Not Wear A Mask At The White House

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) said in an interview with Good Morning America Thursday that he was wrong to not wear a mask at both his debate preparation sessions with President Donald Trump and the September 26 Rose Garden event announcing Amy Coney Barrett as the president’s nomination to the Supreme Court. The superspreader event in which several attendees tested positive was not a “safe zone,” as Christie wrongly believed it to be. “I was led to believe that, you know, all the people that I was interacting with at the White House had been tested and it gave you a false sense of security,” Christie said.

After contracting the virus, Christie spent days in the intensive care unit of the Morristown Medical Center in New Jersey. And since being released from the hospital on October 10, the former governor has strongly urged people to follow C.D.C guidelines, wear masks and practice safe social distancing. “I was wrong. I was wrong not to wear a mask at the Amy Coney Barrett announcement and I was wrong not to wear a mask at my multiple debate prep sessions with the president and the rest of the team.”
