Viking horn-sporting January 6 rioter Jacob Chansley, known as “QAnon Shaman,” was sentenced to 41 months in prison on Wednesday for his role in the deadly insurrection at the United States Capitol.
Chansley addressed the court before Judge Royce C. Lamberth of the Federal District Court in Washington, D.C. handed down his decision.
“You really messed up, royally,” Chansley recalled saying to himself numerous times.
But Lamberth was unmoved. “What you did is terrible,” he said to Chansley.

Chansley’s notoriety is most widely associated with the unusual outfit he donned while storming the Capitol, which consisted of a horned fur hat and striped face paint, as well as his bizarre courtroom statements.
Chansley pleaded guilty in September to a single felony count of obstructing an official proceeding before Congress and agreed to a prison term of 41 to 51 months.
The federal government maintained that Chansley showed up with the intent to “rile up the crowd and demand that lawmakers be brought out” and recommended the maximum sentence.
In the weeks following last November’s election, Chansley posted violent threats online, including one that read, “We shall have no real hope to survive the enemies arrayed against us until we hang the traitors lurking among us.”
During the attack, Chansley was one of the first 30 people to enter the complex and managed to meander onto the floor of the Senate where he posed shirtless with a spear fashioned from a flagpole. He sat in then-Vice President Mike Pence‘s chair and left a note that read, “It’s Only A Matter of Time. Justice Is Coming!”
Chansley eventually soured on former President Donald Trump, whom he accused of duping him and other rioters into believing that the 2020 election was stolen.
