Former national security adviser John Bolton in Donald Trump‘s administration said he is considering running for president in 2024 if the GOP’s potential candidates don’t respond to the former president’s statement suggesting the “termination” of the Constitution.
“I think to be a presidential candidate, you can’t simply say, ‘I support the Constitution.’ You have to say, ‘I would oppose people who would undercut it,’” Bolton said Monday on NBC’s Meet The Press.
Trump recently posted on his social media platform that he should be reinstalled as president or get a do-over election, repeating his baseless allegation that the 2020 presidential race was rigged. Then, he called for a termination of all rules, including the Constitution.

“A Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution,” Trump posted. He reposted the statement later in the day.
Bolton, who served under Trump from 2018 to 2019, said that a statement like that should trigger a strong response and hinted that he might enter the presidential race if he doesn’t see a clear rebuke.
“I’d like to see Shermanesque statements from all the potential candidates,” he said. “If I don’t see that, then I’m going to seriously consider getting in.”
