Biden Welcomes Ukrainian President Zelenskyy To The White House After U.S. Funding Stalls

On Tuesday, President Joe Biden welcomed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to a meeting at the White House.

Biden emphasized the unwavering dedication of the United States to assist the Ukrainian people in their conflict with Russia.

“Putin is banking on the United States failing to deliver for Ukraine. We must, we must, we must prove him wrong,” Biden said. “It’s stunning we’ve gotten to this point.”

“As Russia ramps up its missile and drone strikes against Ukraine, the leaders discussed Ukraine’s urgent needs and the vital importance of the United States’ continued support at this critical moment,” she stated.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-New York) and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) extended an invitation to Zelenskyy to address a gathering of all senators.

Biden asked Zelenskyy to visit him, coinciding with the White House’s plan to increase pressure on Capitol Hill this week to secure additional assistance for Ukraine, especially after the Senate’s recent failure to progress the president’s national security package.

A senior official from the administration has revealed that key members of Biden’s team have been in communication with lawmakers who are directly engaged in the negotiations.
