Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) accidentally praised President Joe Biden at the conservative Turning Point Action conference in Florida last week – and now the president is using her words in his own ads.

The far-right representative compared Biden’s programs to others from the 1960s, highlighting his aim to combat poverty and build the middle class in America.

Greene drew parallels between Biden’s “Build Back Better” plan — designed to provide wider access to education and health care around the country — and Lyndon B. Johnson’s “Great Society,” a compilation of programs including Medicare, Medicaid and food stamps.

“His big socialist programs were the Great Society… big government programs to address education, medical care, urban problems, rural poverty, transportation, Medicare, Medicaid, food stamps and welfare,” she said.

A Kaiser Family Foundation survey from March found that more than 80% of Americans have either a “very favorable” or “somewhat favorable” opinion of Medicare, with 76% feeling the same about Medicaid. Greene’s comparison unintentionally positioned Biden as a proponent of some of the most popular bills ever passed.

Greene continued her attempt to juxtapose the president and his administration with others but only succeeded in promoting Biden even further.

“Now LBJ had the Great Society, but Joe Biden had Build Back Better, and he still is working on it, the largest public investment in social infrastructure and environmental programs that is actually finishing what FDR started, that LBJ expanded on,” she said.”

By likening Biden to Franklin D. Roosevelt, Greene compared her political enemy to one of the most admirable presidents in American history. This week, the official White House Twitter account thanked her for her endorsement.

“Caught us. President Biden is working to make life easier for hardworking families,” officials wrote.

Greene has recently come under scrutiny from other Republican officials for her extremist views and treatment of her colleagues.
