On Tuesday, President Joe Biden called for a new “door-to-door” push to vaccinate Americans after the administration failed to reach its goal of vaccinating 70% of the adult population with at least the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine ahead of his self-imposed July 4 deadline. There are currently about 67.2% of all U.S. adults who have had at least one shot.
“Now we need to go community by community, neighborhood by neighborhood, and often times door-to-door – literally knocking on doors – to get help to the remaining people protected from the virus,” Biden said during his remarks.
During his comments, Biden also warned against getting overconfident in the battle against the virus, as the new delta variant is bringing a surge of new cases in less-inoculated parts of the nation.

“Our fight against this virus is not over,” Biden said. “Right now, as I speak to you, millions of Americans are still unvaccinated and unprotected.”
“And because of that, their communities are at risk. Their friends are at risk, the people that they care about are at risk. This is an even bigger concern because of the delta variant,” the President added.
As of Wednesday, 55.7% of the entire population of the U.S. have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 48% are fully vaccinated.
