Biden To Accept Nomination In Milwaukee At A Smaller Venue

Former Vice President Joe Biden intends to accept the Democratic party’s nomination in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, at a smaller venue amid the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Democratic National Convention (DNC) offcials.

Overhauling the initial plan of hosting it at Fiserv Forum to the Wisconsin Center, the committee chose a smaller venue a few blocks away in Milwaukee.

“Vice President Biden intends to proudly accept his party’s nomination in Milwaukee and take the next step forward towards making Donald Trump a one-term president,” Biden Campaign Manager Jen O’Malley Dillon said. “The city of Milwaukee has been an incredible partner, and we are committed to highlighting Wisconsin as a key battleground state at our convention this August.”

The underlying motive behind the adjustment is to host the event with fewer people to follow the guidelines from medical experts.

The decision from Biden’s campaign committee stands in sharp contrast to President Donald Trump‘s plan to accept the renomination in front of huge crowds in Jacksonville, Florida without any social distancing protocols.

“Leadership means being able to adapt to any situation,” DNC Chair Tom Perez stated Wednesday. “That’s exactly what we’ve done with our convention. Unlike this president, Joe Biden and Democrats are committed to protecting the health and safety of the American people.”

The event will reportedly take place over four days, from August 17 to 20.
