President Joe Biden brought in $28 million ahead of a celebrity-heavy event in Los Angeles on Saturday.
Biden brought former President Barrack Obama, George Clooney and Julia Roberts to boost the celebrity appeal, a frequent tactic used by the Biden campaign.
The event broke a record for the Democrats, surpassing an event at Radio City Music Hall in March that had brought in the largest amount for the party.
Each of the celebrities sent emails or texts via the Biden campaign to generate support for him. Robert De Niro has also supported Biden by voicing an advertisement for the campaign.

The fundraiser had a contest element, which gave small-donation donors the chance to attend the event and meet the participating celebrities. A donation of $20 or more allowed supporters to tune in virtually.
This event aimed at maintaining Biden’s cash advantage over former President Donald Trump, who saw a spike in fundraising following his conviction of 34 felony charges last month.
This event was modeled after a March fundraiser in New York where Biden, Obama and former President Bill Clinton appeared and garnered $26 million. The Clintons and Biden are expected to appear together at a fundraiser in Virginia on Tuesday.
Tickets for this event ranged from $250 up to $500,000, with VIP experiences available for higher ticket prices. Other celebrity attendees included Jimmy Kimmel, Jack Black, Kathryn Hahn and Jason Bateman.
Prior to the event, Jeffry Katzenberg, co-chair of the Biden campaign, issued a statement regarding the expected turn out and success of the event.
“This Saturday, we are going to see an unprecedented and record-setting turnout from the media and entertainment world,” Katzenberg said. “The enthusiasm and commitment for Biden/Harris couldn’t be stronger. We all understand this is the most important election of our lifetime.”
Biden thanked his celebrity supporters on social media following the event.
