Biden Out Fundraises Trump In June & Second Quarter, President Still Has More Cash On Hand For Election Fight

Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden‘s campaign raised more than President Donald Trump‘s campaign in both June and the second quarter of 2020.

Biden’s joint effort with the Democratic National Committee (DNC) raised $141 million in June alone.

The former vice president was helped by reactions to the president’s erratic behavior surrounding the coronavirus, George Floyd‘s murder and the racial justice protests throughout the country.

Biden’s campaign announced that total for contributions during the second quarter of 2020 were over $282 million.

These figures outpaced Trump’s $131 million raised in June and $266 million raised throughout the quarter.

At the end of June, the Trump campaign had nearly $300 million cash on hand. The Biden campaign has not disclosed the amount of cash on hand, though it is believed to be significantly less than Trump’s. At the end of May, it disclosed that Biden had $122 million on hand.

Biden’s newfound wealth signals that battleground election states like Florida and Arizona will be hotly contested.

The Trump campaign has had a head start on the campaign reserving television advertising for months to come and constructing a sophisticated data operation to target Trump’s supporters.
