Biden administration has resumed the construction of the U.S.-Mexico border wall, a signature project captained by former President Donald Trump.
The U.S. Customs and Border Protection is set to continue to build the barrier and predicts it will stay up in the foreseeable future.
In January 2021, on his first day in office, President Joe Biden ordered a halt on the construction of the wall. The order stated that building the wall was a “waste of money that diverts attention from genuine threats to our homeland security.”
Since then, the Department of Homeland Security had authorized repairs in sections of the wall. Last week, CBP outlined plans that include repairing gates and roads as well as filling gaps left in the wall during the pause.
