Biden Orders Portions Of U.S.-Mexico Border Wall To Be Completed

President Joe Biden has ordered authorities in states that border Mexico to close some gaps within the border wall. The work is to be completed mostly in part by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency.

Biden stated that the efforts to close the gaps would be made so migrants would not injure themselves trying to cross the border. Frequently, migrants seen packed in air-tight cars and vans that speed through the gaps. In other instances, those crossing must travel over the dangerous Rio Grande to leave Mexico.

The approach may seem contradictory to the Biden Administration’s frequent criticism of Trump’s signature border wall, but the Department of Homeland Security stated that finishing the wall was due to the “safety and life hazard risks for migrants.”

The work will primarily take place in Texas and Arizona. The costs have yet to be released and no timeline has been set as well.
