President Joe Biden officially launched his re-election campaign in a three-minute video on Tuesday, arguing that he has not completed the “battle for the soul of America.”
Biden’s re-election bid ends speculation about the President’s intention to run. Democratic operatives whispered that he might not seek a second term after the 46th President waited months to announce his campaign. Several other candidates announced their 2024 campaigns in his absence, including two Democrats.
Biden, who repeatedly said he would run, forcefully ended rumors that he would not seek re-election.

The video juxtaposed Biden from “MAGA Republicans” as a fight for freedom.
“Around the country, MAGA extremists are lining up to take on those bedrock freedoms,” Biden said in the video. “Cutting Social Security that you’ve paid for your entire life while cutting taxes for the very wealthy. Dictating what health care decisions women can make, banning books and telling people who they can love. All while making it more difficult for you to be able to vote.”
Biden’s re-election announcement comes exactly four years after his launch for the 2020 presidency. The bid could create a rematch between Biden and former President Donald Trump.
Biden was reportedly provoked into seeking a second term because of his disdain for Trump. Biden sees himself as the surest bet against the twice-impeached and legally-strapped former president.
Biden, 80, called himself a “bridge” candidate during the 2020 election. He has already set the mark for the oldest president in U.S. history. Should he win re-election, his second term would end after his 86th birthday.
Trump, 76, faces similar questions about age. He would be 82 at the end of the next Presidential cycle.
