Biden Family Defends President – Blames Staffers For Debate Flop
The Biden family criticized key advisers and staffers of President Joe Biden while urging the president to continue his campaign during a family gathering at Camp David over the weekend.
The Bidens were at Camp David to have family pictures taken. During the weekend, the family conferred about Biden’s concerning performance at the presidential debate on Thursday and determined that specific Biden staffers had hurt his performance. The family also urged for the firing or demotion of numerous staffers.
The blame primarily fell on Anita Dunn, a senior adviser for Biden, her husband, Bob Bauer, Biden’s attorney and Rob Klain, the former White House chief of staff who was in charge of preparing for the debate.
The family also determined that Biden was too focused on defending his political record rather than providing an outline of another presidential term. They also argued that the president was not properly prepared to attack, was ill and not well-rested.

The Bidens also took issue with CNN’s failure to fact-check the debate, specifically statements made by the president’s political opponent, former President Donald Trump. They also raised claims that CNN failed to tell Biden which camera to use when not speaking, and the makeup they used made him appear pale.
These remarks follow the ongoing criticism of Biden’s debate performance, as critics argue he looked confused and gave unclear answers. Many also questioned his ability to compete against Trump and hold office for four more years.
A CBS News/YouGov poll found that 72% of voters believe that Biden lacks the cognitive ability to serve as president.
During a rally on Friday, Biden acknowledged the debate and said, “I don’t debate as well as I used to,” then told supporters that he “would not be running again if I did not believe with all my heart and soul that I can do this job.”
Biden also has the ongoing support of his family, as First Lady Jill Biden and his granddaughters attended fundraising events on Saturday.
