Biden Ends Trump’s Plan For ‘National Garden Of American Heroes’

President Joe Biden Friday rescinded several executive orders former president Donald Trump issued during his tenure, including one creating a “National Garden of American Heroes” he proposed on last year’s independence day at Mount Rushmore.

Back in January, just two days before he left the office, Trump had named 244 people that he wanted to honor as statues in his proposed garden.

Trump’s plan was to create a garden with sculptures of American heroes. The 244 people included past presidents, athletes and pop stars. Neil Armstrong, Kobe Bryant and Andrew Carnegie were named among the list.

“The chronicles of our history show that America is a land of heroes…. The gates of a beautiful new garden will soon open to the public where the legends of America’s past will be remembered,” Trump wrote in his order back in January.

Biden Friday also rescinded another Trump’s order issued last summer that was signed to protect monuments amid Black Lives Matter protests.

The order threatened state and local governments with federal funding if they failed to protect monuments in their jurisdiction.
